• Notes

  Not sure of his parents. Some people confuse him with François Ouellet (17 Sep 1819 to 3 May 1893) who was the son of Jean Marie Ouellet and Marie Archange Dionne. This cannot possibly be the same person, as there is good documentation that François Ouellet never left the Kamouraska area, had two successive wives and children during an overlapping time period, while this Joseph Ouellet was living in Madawaska and having children with Angélique Thomas. If he was a brother of François Ouellet, I can find no documentation of this. From the birth of son Evariste, it does seem that he was living in Ste-Anne-de-la-Pocatière while establishing his family, may have been from the area.
